Minecraft 1.8, titled "Bountiful Update" was released on September 2, 2014 for Java Edition. The update added new stone blocks (granite, andesite and diorite), banners, armor stands, slime blocks, prismarine and sea lanterns, as well as the spectator game mode. The ocean monument was also added, along with the Guardian and Elder Guardian mobs. It also introduced us to Alex, a new default player skin. Even though the update was release back in 2014, it is still supported by a lot of public servers and networks.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.8 was the first iteration of the "Village & Pillage" update.
